The sacred candle

The body is a sacred candle. And what candle is not most beautiful when it’s lit?

Being lit is our happiness, our laughing, our having fun, our passions in full stride, our being in an ovation of something ... like maybe at some sporting event, wildly cheering; or at some opera, or play or rock concert; or in a great quiet ovation of the beauty and wonder of a mountain or a bird; or some kind of special inner silent applause before a knockout piece of art or sculpture, like Michelangelo's symbolic David— of our own wondrous power.

David, was about to slay Goliath, (as someday we all will slay anything that could ever get in our way of becoming more and more beautiful and free). And thus, someday even know, the magnificent luminous sovereignty of pure soul.

The above thoughts came to me early this morning in drawing card #8 from the Wisdom of Hafiz Oracle Deck. It’s included under the “Work” tabs of my website.

I like this Wisdom of Hafiz deck. I like to draw a card once a week or so, and find it fun to do with a friend. And to my amazement this deck is something of a phenomenon in Japan, or has been at times over the last three months, since it first got released there.

For any card drawn, one can go and look in the accompanying pocket-sized book, and then at the top of the page there is some Hafiz verse in italic, most of which has never been published in any of my previous books. Card #8 has the title, Kindle Love. And my Hafiz rendering:

The eye and body a sacred candle

tenderness and compassion ignites.

Then there is an oracle reading for that card, as there is every card, by a very gifted woman, named Angi Sullins. Her husband Silas created the exceptional art for the deck. Some of Angi’s oracle readings are really something, I think. Like for card 8, she says:

“It is in your best interest to be very tender with yourself. To forgive, understand and adore the complex wonder that you are. When you kindle loving compassion inwardly, you also radiate it outwardly and life begins to respond to that choice. The cells of your body and the very cells of the air are compelled by that energy, creating a love vortex. And love? It’s a lot like acid, dissolving everything that is unlike itself.”

Okey doke. Do what ya can to light the sacred candle. And become a moon or sun we need upon the earth.
